  1. When will the construction for Wildwood Canyon Villa (WCV) be completed and when can someone plan to move in?

    We are now open and ready for you to move in.  Call or email for more information.

     

  2. Do you have a waiting list to be admitted to WCV, and if so, how does one get on it?

Many our future residents and have already selected their apartments in anticipation of our opening.  As the community fills, a waiting list will be developed.  A resident application must be completed and submitted in order to hold a selected apartment.

 

  1. Are residents allowed to bring personal possessions with them?

Yes, our apartments are unfurnished and most residents want to bring their own furnishings to make the apartment feel like home.  Each apartment has a locking door and there is a locking cabinet in each room for personal items.  For those who cannot or do not wish to furnish the apartment themselves, arrangements can be made to furnish the apartment for them.

 

  1. How does WCV determine what type of services the resident needs?

A Comprehensive Assessment is completed prior to move-in, after 30 days, and quarterly or upon a change of condition.  Input from the resident, their family and physician assists in the development of an individualized Service Plan.  This plan identifies areas in which the resident requires or has requested assistance.

 

  1. Does Medi-Cal or Medicare pay for Assisted Living?

There is no benefit from either of these sources.  Residents pay privately or utilize any existing Long-term care insurance benefit they may have.

 

  1. If I would like to eat with a resident how far in advance do I need to let you know?

We request that guests notify WCV 24 hours beforehand if possible.  We also have a private dining room that is available for special celebrations.  It is available on a reservation basis.

 

  1. What is the charge for a friend or family member to eat with a resident?

All family members and close friends may eat with their loved one for a moderate fee.  We encourage all to visit and socialize.

 

  1. Can residents control the heating and air conditioning in their apartments?

Yes, each apartment is individually controlled with its own thermostat.

 

  1. How does a resident get emergency assistance?

Each apartment is equipped with an emergency pull-cord system.  The call system allows for voice-to-voice communication and activates pagers carried by the care staff.

 

  1. Do residents provide their own linens (sheets, towels, etc.)?

Most residents prefer to bring their own favorite linens to keep the feeling of home and individuality; we are able, however, to provide linens if needed.

 

  1. Does the facility have a beauty shop?

Yes, beautician services are available at competitive prices.  Check with WCV management to determine scheduled times.

 

  1. What kind of assistance is provided for personal hygiene?

Assistance can be provided with various tasks such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, shaving, combing hair, or brushing teeth.  Just ask, and Wildwood Canyon Villa management will discuss accommodations!

 

  1. Do you accept Alzheimer’s residents?

Wildwood Canyon Villa has a specialized memory care area with private rooms.  Staff at WCV are specially trained and practice the “Best Friends Approach” to Alzheimer’s and dementia care, emphasizing resident dignity and choice.

 

  1. Does WCV provide short-term care?

Yes.  This is called Respite Care and is provided on a daily rate basis.  Respite care can provide a much needed break for family caregivers, as well as introduce residents to all that Assisted Living and Memory Care offers.

 

  1. Are residents allowed to come and go as they please, or only under supervision?

Residents at Wildwood Canyon Villa Assisted Living are free to come and go as they please.  Scheduled transportation in our bus is available for doctor appointments, shopping and planned trips.  Wildwood Canyon Villa does utilize check-in/ out sheets for safety purposes.  The Memory Care area is a secured section.  Residents are provided assistance by family or staff on all outings.

 

  1. What type of medical care is provided within the facility?

While residents utilize their own physician for health care, WCV has a full time LVN Memory Care Coordinator on staff.  This nurse monitors residents health and can be reached by staff when away from the building.

 

  1. How do you meet the various needs and interests of residents?

Through a variety of activities ranging from sensory stimulation for memory impaired residents to activities such as garden clubs and men’s nights for more independent residents.  Resident’s input regarding preferred activities helps meet Wildwood Canyon’s goal of providing an environment that seeks to maintain active lifestyles for aging adults.

 

  1. Who takes care of laundry?

Residents may use WCV’s laundry facility independently or staff at WCV will launder resident clothing on a weekly basis if desired.  Mending is the responsibility of the resident or the responsible party.

 

  1. Do you provide live entertainment?

Yes.  We have a variety of activities that include various types of entertainment.  Sometimes volunteers from the community, residents, staff and even family members share their unique talents!

 

  1. Are religious services provided?

Yes.  The Yucaipa area is rich with various religious denominations.  Based on resident input, we will coordinate in-house services and studies.

 

  1. Do you have visiting hours?

No.  The facility is open to family members and friends 24 hours a day.  Obviously, it is best to time your visit when it is most beneficial to your loved one.

 

  1. When and how are we billed?

Billing statements for the upcoming month are mailed out during the last week of the current month and the payment is due on the 1st of each month with a 5-day grace period. 

 

  1. How are residents with long-term care insurance policies billed?

Our assistant director can provide your insurance carrier with any information they need, including copies of monthly statements.  Long-term care insurers usually make the payment directly to the insured, so the resident is still responsible for rent payments.

 

  1. If a resident is hospitalized, are they still charged for their apartment and services?

Yes.  Since the apartment is held until the resident returns, they will still be billed.  WVC will adjust for meal charges if the resident has been out of the building for more than eight days.  Service charges may be altered as well under special arrangements.

 

  1. Do residents have their own telephones?

The resident is responsible to have their phone established by the local phone company and is responsible for paying phone charges billed by the phone company.

 

  1. What types of window coverings are provided?

Each apartment is provided with mini-blinds.  Residents may supplement those with their own draperies or valences should they so desire.  Our maintenance personnel can assist with installation as their schedule permits.

 

  1. What safety measures have been taken to secure Wildwood Canyon Villa?

WCV has 24 hour staffing.  The building is also locked in the evening and throughout the night.  Staff members are notified through the paging system if anyone enters or exits the building after the doors have been locked for the night.

 

  1. Can residents bring pets to live with them at Wildwood Canyon Villa?

Small pets are permitted at WCV if the resident is able to care for the animal independently.  The pets must primarily stay in the resident’s apartment.  Pet deposits are required prior to move-in.
